Terms and conditions
The booking conditions that apply to trips arranged by Ceylon Paradise Holiday.
Last updated: 31 July 2026
1. Who these terms are with
These terms govern the contract between you (“the client”) and Ceylon Paradise Holiday of No. 35/1, U.E. Perera Mawatha, Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka; company registration number PV 00355360. By making a booking you confirm that you have read them, that you are 18 or over, and that you have authority to accept them on behalf of everyone named on the booking.
2. Making a booking
An enquiry and a quotation are not a booking. A contract comes into existence only when we have received your deposit and issued a written booking confirmation. Until then, prices and availability may change.
Please check your confirmation carefully as soon as you receive it, particularly the spelling of names against passports and all dates. Tell us within [[e.g. 48 hours]] if anything is wrong; corrections made later may incur supplier charges.
3. Prices and what they include
Prices are quoted per person based on the number of travellers and the room sharing arrangement stated in your quotation. Changing either changes the price.
Your confirmation sets out exactly what is included. Unless stated otherwise, prices exclude international flights, visas and ETA fees, travel insurance, tips, drinks, laundry, optional excursions and anything of a personal nature.
Prices are held once we confirm your booking, except where a government changes taxes, national park fees or fuel duty, in which case we may pass on the increase at cost with evidence. We will absorb increases of less than [[e.g. 2 per cent]].
4. Paying
A deposit of [[e.g. 25 per cent]] is payable to confirm your booking. The balance is due [[e.g. 45 days]] before arrival. Bookings made inside that window are payable in full.
If the balance is not received by the due date we may treat the booking as cancelled by you and apply the charges in section 5. Bank transfer fees are the payer’s responsibility.
5. If you cancel or change
Cancellations must be sent to us in writing and take effect on the day we receive them. The following charges apply as a percentage of the total trip cost:
| Notice given | Charge |
|---|---|
| [[e.g. more than 60 days]] | [[e.g. deposit only]] |
| [[e.g. 60 to 30 days]] | [[e.g. 50%]] |
| [[e.g. 29 to 15 days]] | [[e.g. 75%]] |
| [[e.g. under 15 days, or no show]] | [[e.g. 100%]] |
Some hotels and internal services are non-refundable from the moment they are booked; where that applies we will tell you before you commit. Changes to dates or itinerary before final payment are usually possible and we will pass on any supplier charge at cost, plus an administration fee of [[e.g. USD 50]].
This is why we ask everyone to hold travel insurance that covers cancellation.
6. If we change or cancel
Itineraries are planned months ahead and occasionally have to change. Minor changes — a different hotel of equivalent standard, a reordered day — we will tell you about but they do not entitle you to cancel.
If we have to make a significant change, or cancel your trip for any reason other than force majeure or your failure to pay, you may accept the change, accept an alternative trip of comparable standard, or cancel and receive a full refund of everything you have paid us.
7. Circumstances beyond anyone’s control
We are not liable for failure to perform where it results from events we could not reasonably foresee or avoid: war or threat of war, civil unrest, terrorism, epidemic or pandemic and the public health measures taken in response, natural disaster, extreme weather, flood, fire, industrial action, airport or port closure, or government action. In those circumstances we will do what we reasonably can to recover money from suppliers on your behalf and pass on whatever is recovered.
8. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for holding a valid passport, the correct visa or ETA, and any required vaccination certificate; for arriving at the stated times; for the behaviour of everyone on your booking; and for your own belongings.
We may end a trip without refund where a traveller’s behaviour causes or is likely to cause danger, distress or damage, or where it is illegal. Sri Lanka takes offence at disrespect toward Buddhist images seriously, including tattoos and photographs, and this can have legal consequences.
9. Health, fitness and special requirements
You must tell us at the time of booking about any medical condition, disability, reduced mobility, allergy or dietary requirement that could affect your trip, so that we can advise honestly whether an itinerary is suitable and make arrangements. Some activities on our itineraries — climbing Sigiriya, Adam’s Peak, the Horton Plains circuit, rafting, surfing — require a reasonable level of fitness. We may decline a booking where we do not believe we can accommodate a requirement safely, and we will say so rather than take the money.
10. Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is a condition of travelling with us. It should cover medical treatment and repatriation, cancellation and curtailment, personal belongings, and every activity you intend to do. We may ask for your policy number and emergency contact number before departure.
11. Our liability
We accept responsibility for arranging your trip with reasonable skill and care, and for the acts and omissions of our own employees while acting within their employment.
We do not accept liability for the acts or omissions of independent suppliers such as airlines, hotels and third-party excursion operators, whose own terms apply; for loss or damage arising from your own act or omission, that of an unconnected third party, or force majeure; or for indirect or consequential loss.
Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the total price paid for the trip, except in respect of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud, where liability is not limited. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. If something goes wrong
Tell your driver, guide or our office immediately, while you are still in Sri Lanka. Most problems can be fixed on the spot and almost none can be fixed a month later from another country. If it is not resolved, write to us within 28 days of returning home with your booking reference and we will respond within [[e.g. 14 days]].
13. Website content and intellectual property
All text, photographs, itineraries and design on this website belong to us or are used with permission, and may not be reproduced without written consent. Descriptions and photographs are given in good faith; hotels refurbish, facilities close seasonally and wildlife is wild. We do not guarantee any particular sighting.
14. Errors
We take care with prices and descriptions but errors occasionally occur. Where a price is obviously wrong and you could reasonably have recognised it as an error, we are not bound by it; we will tell you promptly and you may accept the corrected price or cancel for a full refund.
15. Data protection
We handle your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [[Sri Lanka — CONFIRM WITH YOUR LAWYER]], and the courts of [[JURISDICTION]] have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the UK or EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country.
17. If part of these terms fails
If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the one published when we issued your confirmation.
